Weekend 13-15 July 2012
The 1st Leeds Chess Club Congress is really going tohappen!
The Congress was originally Tony Ibbitson'sbrainchild. Sadly, Tony's employmentdifficulties (there's a recession on, don'cha know?) have meant that he has hadto withdraw from running it. Gallantly,Dave Summerland and Jon Mahony have stepped forward and agreed to act as JointOrganisers (which has nothing to do with sharing home-made cigarettes). We are now back on track!
So, please mark the weekend of 13-15 July 2012 in yourdiary as the date for the very first Leeds Chess Club Congress.
Just for this event we have left our usual stamping-groundof the North Leeds WMC for more spacious accommodation in the leafy suburbs(and no parking problems). But fear not- the venue has a licensed bar that will be open for most of the congress!

I received some old Leeds Chess Club score sheets that date back to 1938 & 39, one is a game versus the great George Koltanowski. Click here to view them and supporting information for each. If anyone has any additional information on these players, please let me know!
Hi members, just to let you know that you can now find a new discussion area on the team news page. Of course, this is a password protected area so you may talk about anything regarding your chess without giving anything away to other clubs! Also, if you forget the password or don't know it, send me an email and I'll let you know what it is. Cheers!

The Leeds Chess Club Championship is now underway, the 2nd round is almost complete and 5 rounds remain. You can view the official Leeds Chess Club Championship page here, which is being updated on a regular basis.
I now run a Leeds team on chess.com here and you can join if you fancy playing some team matches with us. We're currently playing matches with France, Kazakhstan, Austria, Australia, Korea and many, many more... It doesn't cost anything to join and play and new matches are started on a regular basis so you always have a chance to get playing some serious chess for us!
