WHAT DOES IT COST?

You will be reading this page if you've looked at some chess club sites and are now at the stage of taking it further. Here you you will learn how much it costs to play chess in Leeds, and as we're probably the cheapest club in Leeds, you will most likely agree that we offer great value for money.

You will need to be a member of the English Chess Federation to play for Leeds Chess Club, most clubs require this these days. To become a member of the ECF, you will have to pay £11.00 for the year, this covers all of your games for grading and will also entitle you to discounts at chess congresses. If you play 3 congresses in a year, you will have already made you money back from entry discounts!

Additional fee's required are actual team entry fee's and subs for new chess equipment. This year the subs are a little higher than they usually are, this is due to our increasing size as we now require more equipment to cover the extra team.

Therefore, subs will total £21.00 this year but on a standard season, they shouldn't be any more than £15.00.

However, if you're not a league player and just want to play friendly chess. No subs will be required.
