Why play for Leeds Chess Club?

1: We are probably the only club in Leeds that share ideas with everyone within the club and aim to help everyone else improve. This is due to our young and hungry team hoping to be the best chess club in Yorkshire!

2: We have the biggest venue in Leeds and drinks are available at very competitive prices.

3: We're probably the only club in Leeds who actually train together, we make a big effort in meeting up on non match nights to go through theory and test each others systems out in order to make sure we are all spot on with what we have been studying.

4: Book & CD exchanging is also another huge part of Leeds Chess Club, if we have any material that we think might benefit another Leeds Chess Club member then we're more than happy to lend them it in the hope that it does help improve their chess.

5: We like to arrange group trips to chess tournaments in areas such as Scarborough and Whitby where me make a holiday out of it and stay Friday to Sunday, sometimes even Monday!

6: Most clubs in Yorkshire tend to play their chess and then go home, not us, we stay at the club until kicking out time and make sure we have plenty of beer and friendly banter afterwards! This includes teasing our B team captain Jon because he's a plonker, join in if you like :D

7: We are the friendliest club in Leeds!

"You should protect your weak points and overprotect the strong ones in the centre." - Nimzowitsch.
